Previous winner's testimonial

"Winning the Impress Prize in 2007 changed my life. From being a 'wannabe' writer I became a real-life author and member of the writing community. Since Impress Books published Consider the Lilies I have been invited to read at literary festivals, universities, libraries and book discussion groups.

As a result of winning the prize and being published I was encouraged to work on a second novel and have signed up with a well established literary agency. It is still a wonderful feeling to walk into a bookshop in a strange town and see your book displayed on the shelves.

The Impress Prize offers a chance to break into the highly competitive world of publishing. I am indebted to Impress Books and Exeter University for creating this opportunity and also for the unstinting help and advice I have received from Impress which has enabled a novice author to make the most of publicity and marketing opportunities. Although winning the prize alone fulfilled long-term dreams, I hope it is the starting point for a long and successful writing career."
